'''Sir Froste''' is a member of The [[Holy Order of Mardur]].

In the land of Brittania, Rebekah Froste wandered. In the dark caverns of Wind she found the ancient undead: the liches. At first she was alarmed like so many curious adventurers before. She raised her poisoned blade and readied magics to battle this new foe, yet she noticed a profound sadness in their eyes. They had lost something precious. She halted her attack and listened.

The liches told the tale of betrayal at the hands of the mad king Lord British. Insanity had taken him and he conspired to have the entirety of the Council of Mages ruthlessly murdered. Yet they lived on… Thus the liches were created. Rebekah gave herself to their defense. She became a Guardian of the Undead Lords.

As time passed, the Lords became mightier. Years went by and soon the Lords were more than capable of their own defense. Rebekah’s duty was complete and she rested. Her death was welcome and her soul was finished in her work.
But eternal rest was to elude her.

Reborn into a land called Stygia. The soul had a new form, more monstrous than even the Undead Lords. No longer human, no longer feminine. This new form carried the old name…Froste.

Froste was an orc. Not lovely to look upon. Unkind in demeanor. Brutal in combat. The other orcs taught battle, and Froste learned. In this orc’s army, Froste rose in prowess and resonsibility. First as a Grunt, a front line warrior. Then he became Ravager, a mighty force on the battlefield, capabale of facing any and triumphing. He fought for the right to lead the Stygian Uruk-Hai on the field and defeated the Warleader Divit.

Soon Froste was bidden to leave Stygia. He travelled to distant lands and arrived upon the shores of Dargarth, accompanied by the Goblin Queen Pow Pow, his beloved companion. They determined to make a nation based on freedom and virtue. They named this nation Mârdûr, which in the Black Speech means Freedom.

'''Count Andor''' is a founder of Dargarth and originally migrated to the realm from Darkon. He was a founding member of the [[Explorer's Guild]] before leaving it to pursue religious studies.

On his 16th nameday by human reckoning, Andor wandered out of the Hundred Hectare forest in the land of [http://www.darkon.org/wiki/index.php?title=Secret_Moot_Cabal Moot], upon the Western Continent of [http://www.darkon.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page Darkon], endeavoring to join the Mootian Scouting Guild. He served with passion and reveled in the blessings given to him by the goddess Eris and the War deity Tirade. He was granted a [[Knighthood|Lordship]] for his service to the realm of Darkon, which he parlayed into a ship to sail to the Southern reaches of the world. The ship wrecked on the shores of a lush and vast uncharted island, which he proclaimed to be Dargarth. He then slipped into a coma, presumably caused by [[hydrogen psychosis]].

When he awoke it was as a changed man. He had lost his hatred of Dark Elves, and was intent on carving out Dargarth as a place for the vast drama of empires to unfold. He raved of great things, he buried himself in ancient prophesy, and he often forgot pants for months at a time, sometimes becoming the hermit, sometimes the frothing doomsayer. He wandered and wandered in search of the Gods. It was at this time rumored that Andor was half gnome, but few would say it to his face.

Andor left the settlements of the [[Explorer's Guild]] which he loved so much, and sought the salvation offered by the Holy [[Order of the Abbot]]. He found it difficult to conform to the Abbot's whim on details, but Brother Andor did his utmost, and was willing to suffer the consequences when he transgressed.

When the Abbot declared [[Mârdûr]] to be a divine protectorate, and when the monasteries became a haven for bandits and trolls, Andor knew what
he must do. He humbly sought permission to be the 'Minister of Truth and Seeker of That Which is Good', where he could pass the tenements of wisdom onto the denizens of the [[Holy Order of Mârdûr]]: Positive Speech, Positive Action, and Positive Violence.

When Mardur lost at SkullBowl after the Abbott had promised victory to Andor, he returned his surcoat. And scant months later, [[Jebb]] washed up ashore Dargarth, and because of the adage "Where a few Mootians gather, There Is Moot" they were spiritually obligated to claim land for [[Moot]].

Few years after his birth, Rosa became deathly ill and withered away, leaving him to fend for himself on the unwelcoming streets of a peasant town in the human territories. With no trade skill, and nowhere to turn, Thorne stole himself a blade and sold his sword to anyone with a few coppers.

Playing a mercenary proved to be a rough lifestyle, leaving its own scars on the mind and body both. Above all, it brought a familiar relationship with danger and death accompanied with a lost sense of purpose. One night, as he was blowing his few hard earned coins in a local tavern, Thorne found himself being threatened by a huge, angry, belligerent man with two cronies at his back and a serious problem with monstrous mongrels. After taking a hard set of knuckles in the skull, he realized there was only way he’d come out of the situation alive. Reaching for the hilt of a rusted short sword at his belt, Thorne cut the man down right inside the tavern. Knowing the nobles and their laws would have small love for a half-beast, he fled the city in search of a safe place.

Finding open acceptance of his race and lifestyle in the monster territories of old Mardur, and a job as a soldier in the Mardurian Guard, Thorne settled in the capital city. Quickly enough, his prowess in combat and positive relations with [[Pow Pow]] the Goblin Queen attained him the positions of Captain of the Guard and Commanding Officer of the Queensguard, serving as both the leader of a monster elite squad and the first sword of the Queen herself.

Thorne's love for lechery and murder and other befouling practices border upon excessive. His obsession with gold is unmatched by anyone in the realm. He remains one of the richest men in [[Dargarth]] to this day and is well known to give generous tips.

After a long search for a greater sense of purpose in life that dates back to his days as a mercenary, Thorne found his calling in joining the Warrior of Sunlight covenant. He now offers his praise to the Lord of Sunlight, the Knight Solaire, and most importantly, the Sun.
In light of this focus, I am sure that my researches will be of aid to many students of alchemy.
}}'''Count Arminius of Narscin''' is a founding member of the [[Explorers Guild]], the founder of the [[Guild Bank of Dargarth]], and a nobleman of great renown. He has been a notable figure in Dargarth since the realm's founding, and carried out many mapping and charting duties for the Explorers Guild and realm at large.

A native of Dargarth, Arminius welcomed the ship of explorers that would initiate the founding of the Explorers Guild. An early ranger for the guild, he led various land searches on its behalf. He organized relief efforts for people of [[Narscin]] after the collapse of [[Narscinia]], and today is now [[Nobility in Dargarth|Count]] of the Isle. Under his lordship, the island has experienced a population boom and full development of the island's gold and silver mines.

In 1 [[DY]], Arminius recognized a need for proper financial services in the realm. Using the resources of the Isle of Narscinia and the Explorers Guild, he set up the realm's first bank. The [[Guild Bank of Dargarth]] was chartered by the [[Emperor of Dargarth]] and offers banking services to all in the realm.

Arminius begun his career as a ranger, although he gave up this career soon after achieving knighthood. Today he is an accomplished paladin, wielding the holy blade that carries the name of [[Anemoi Four|his faith]].

===Character, Country, and Organization Pages===
How can '''you''' contribute to the wiki? The best way is making your [[Making a character page|character page]]. A character page is where the details of your character are stored. So when someone is interested/curious/plotting revenge, they can review the information publicly known about you. Country pages are also important. If you want to help develop your country's history and details, get together with your country leader, compare notes, and collaborate. Profit!

===Land Action Events===
Another way you can help is by providing details about cool events. Either the bi-weekly land action days, adventures, or otherwise. This IC (in-character) aspect is often overlooked, but many interesting, funny, or heroic events occur during such days. A [[Events of the year 3 DY|log]] has been kept for much of this year ([[3 DY]]) but more information is always helpful. ''("'What happened in 2013," one may ask, or "how did [[Sanctuary]] gain that big island," or [[Mardur]] that [[pyramid]]?' Hey, here's a link answering that question!")''

===Character Race Pages===
Finally, there are pages describing most of the races of Dargarth. Keep in mind that some pages, such as "[[Orc]]", are about NPC (non-player character) orcs as present in land actions, and not the race in general. Feel free to define races as you see fit, since that's how lore gets established in Dargarth. Good pages to edit include the "Category:Race" pages. For example, take [[:Category:Humans]]. This is a page which lists player characters which identify as humans (as opposed to, for example, player character [[:Category:Orcs|orcs]]). This is a great place to develop and store details about the race your character portrays.
:''(It should be noted that because of the vagaries of wiki auto-linking, some pages such as [[:Category:Gypsys]] aren't spelled correctly; the wiki simply adds an "S" to the end of the race category to make it plural.)''

===Important notes to keep in mind===
:*[[Editing Help]]
:*[[Making a character page]]
Also, to [[Editing Help|reiterate]]:
''"Please don't make up events that can't be reconciled with game history or existing lore. For example: its great to write a fictional history of your country before its in game founding. Its not so great to write about your country's invasions of another country, unless those invasions have happened in game. Another: its great to write about your character's opinion of Count Andor. It's not so great to write about how your character is his long lost brother, unless that's been established with him. Remember, this setting is shared by many people, and Dargarth is world where stories are made collaboratively. Don't create things in your own fiction that can't be reconciled with game events."''

When we need to explain or account for a meta-game/out-of-character event in-game, it's up to us as storytellers to come up with a believable explanation while not contradicting in-character events. For example:
:The [[Isles of Langerhausen]] goes defunct. It's been suggested in-character that they are nobles from far-away-land (because they are a cross-gaming group that couldn't often be at events). This was not disputed by Langerhausen, so an explanation that Langerhausen likely abandoned their colonies and returned home is plausible.
::However, perhaps the dragon egg (adventure hook for an old adventure) hatched and wiped out Langer. This is also plausible. '''The cool part''' is that we'll likely never know, and that's ok; in real life mysterious circumstances often remain unexplained. (However it's also possible that an Adventure Planner or the Land Marshal might establish new facts in the future; it's part of the fun of group world building!)<br>
However sometimes no in-character facts are available about an event: for example, the defuncting of [[Alliance]]. In such cases it's probably not unreasonable for allies, friends, or geographical neighbors to take the lead. (But we're all working together, so if you have a cool idea, suggest/share it!)

But in the end it all boils down to consensual world building. Try and find an explanation that doesn't ignore existing "facts" (in-character lore), is hopefully acceptable to all the parties that care, and as the front page says: "Don't be a dick."

= Notes and Questions: stuff about editing the wiki =

[[User:Rasheab|Rasheab]] ([[User talk:Rasheab|talk]]) 15:10, 27 November 2012 (PST) - I hate writing on "talk" or user pages about random questions, because they are rarely seen. So I'm giving this a try.

Lets try organizing this with 3rd and 4th level heading titles
=== Title of subject ===
==== title of subject ===
respectively. We can use strike-outs through the subject header when we're done with it.
<nowiki><strike></nowiki> <strike> Strike out </strike> <nowiki></strike></nowiki>
is the code, and
<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>
tildas add your signature. Fyi in case you didn't know.

== Category: Ranks and Titles, vs Country Leaders ==
I would like to tag OC country leaders so that they are easier to find on the wiki (I realize you can click on the country normally, but one list would be nice to have at times). "Category: Ranks & Titles" says it's only for nobles and knights, but do you have a problem with:
A) a "Category:Country Leader"
B) that showing up in "Category: Ranks and Titles" (since they are, ranks)

:Sounds fine to me. One more thing to update though. [[User:Arminius|Arminius]] ([[User talk:Arminius|talk]]) 16:04, 27 November 2012 (PST)
::K. I'll get around to it sooner or later (I'm not sure how to make templates, but doesn't look hard.) [[User:Rasheab|Rasheab]] ([[User talk:Rasheab|talk]])
:::I was lazy and just used Category:Country Leaders. ~ Rasheab

== "Category: Creatures" vs. "Category: Encounter Creatures" ==
Does there really need to be a difference?

:I originally created the Category:Creatures, but then thought it may interfere with Player Character Races in some instances. So I changed it to Encounter Creatures, but could not delete the original Creatures category. [[User:Cragon|Cragon]] ([[User talk:Cragon|talk]]) 12:04, 30 December 2012 (PST)

::Cool. I noticed it mostly got changed over; I should have put a strike through on this subject awhile ago. [[User:Rasheab|Rasheab]] ([[User talk:Rasheab|talk]])

== Organizations --> Government ==
Should "organizations" have a "government" line in their template? (It currently has "leaders," but unlike "Countries" doesn't have a "government/governance/leadership tyle" line.) Needed?

:I left it out because it seemed less relevant. The terminology was also a little off. We can add it back in if desired, I just wanted to share my reasoning. [[User:Arminius|Arminius]] ([[User talk:Arminius|talk]]) 05:03, 7 December 2012 (PST)

== Template Problem? ==

{{template:Location
|TERRAIN= TEST
|COUNTRY=N/A
}}

When you use Template:Location a "terrain" entry shows, but there doesn't appear to be a way to fill it in.

:It just needed an input for terrain. I've added it to the copy/paste text for the future, any old uses of it will need the input added manually. [[User:Arminius|Arminius]] ([[User talk:Arminius|talk]]) 09:04, 30 December 2012 (PST)

== Categories ==

We (I) have Category:Adventures (self-explanatory) and Category:History (for specifically history related lore entries).

What should they be tagged with? (Right now they don't show up anywhere, unless you know to search for them.)
*Category:Adventures --> Category:Contents or ...? Category:Lore?
*Category:History --> Category:Lore? Or Category:Contents? (It's a sub-category of Lore, but most entries in "History" are purposely dual tagged with "History" and "Lore.")

Individual pages should be tagged with Adventures, Lore, or History, which are themselves subcategories of Contents. The more specific categories feed into Contents, which is a catch all category for pretty much everything that's not about the wiki (meta category) [[User:Arminius|Arminius]] ([[User talk:Arminius|talk]]) 12:07, 4 May 2013 (PDT)

===Basics===
The Colossus is a towering figure, both terrifying and awe inspiring to those who glimpse it. Standing multiple stories high, the Colossus is essentially a living, moving statue of enormous proportions. It is difficult to examine the legendary figure in detail, but it is most likely constructed of iron or bronze. It is believed only one Colossus is left in the world. Though perhaps nothing more than pure speculation, the ability to construct more may lie hidden somewhere in a long forgotten arcane library. The Colossus seems to wander the realm, its direction seemingly chosen at random.
===Behaviour===
The Colossus is aware of its surroundings, but often disregards ‘lesser’ creatures such as humans or orcs. It does not frequently deviate from its path, and will crash through buildings without concern. Battling the Colossus is generally considered a sign of madness, as it is impervious to almost all weapons. Only the most exceptional weapons, blessed by the gods or enchanted by magic, may damage the colossus. Slivered weapons also seem to affect the construct, though the reasoning is unknown. Its blows can crush any normal creature, even those in the finest armors. If one must battle the Colossus, it is advised to bring the most powerful spellcasters available. In general, it is best to stay out of the Colossus’s path.

===Basics===
Though perhaps nothing more that pure speculation, the ability to construct more may lie hidden somewhere in a long forgotten arcane library. The Colossus seems to wander the realm, its direction seemingly chosen at random.
===Behaviour===
The Colossus is aware of its surroundings, but often disregards ‘lesser’ creatures such as humans or orcs. It does not frequently deviate from its path, and will crash through buildings without concern. The Colossus ignores most attempts to interact with it, but will occasionally give attention to certain individuals. It's logic or reasoning is completely unknown, and it does not communicate. ===Basics and Behaviour===
Even more rare than the abhorrent Ogre, is the Ogre Magi. It is unsure if the Ogre Magi draws its magical ability from the soul it has been born from, or by a surplus of fel imbuement to the monster. Similar in appearance and attributes to regular ogres, the Magi can be differentiated by the addition of vile green runes cragged in the ogre’s skin, seething of fel energies. They commonly possess a mane of white. Noted to being slightly larger and grotesque than the lesser fel drenched ogres. Seen wielding massive staves housing fel idols or fel glass, most like to enhance their dark magics. It seems as though only one Magi exists per tribe of ogres.
===Combat===
Magi appear to posses more intelligence than their subordinate brothers, and have been seen taking leadership roles, both among other ogres, but also lesser goblinoids, such as goblins and kobolds. They can invoke fel lightning at-will, though it is uncertain what other magic attributes the Magi may posses. Extremely dangerous, and rarely seen alone. Avoidance is imperative.

''~ Friar Montene''
===Basics===
Very little is veritably known of these rare behemoths that terrorize the lands of Dargarth. Once thought to be Lesser Demons, research has shown that these monsters are a race to themselves, but could be possibly be tied to demons in some way. It has been mentioned in texts that ogres are tied to nether fruit. These claims cannot be verified due to lack of evidence, and possibly the extinction of such fruits. These giant monsters are sometimes attested to be borne of souls whom have succumbed to fel influence. Erupting from the chest of the tainted and growing ferociously to full size instantaneously. No recent reports have suggested these claims, and it appears as though ogres may have evolved or always were organic creatures. Reproduction and lifestyles more akin to earthly creatures than demonic ones. The ancient texts may be mere myth.
===Behaviour===
Dark rugged skin shields the monster, and black horns curl behind their pointed ears and black mane. Frothing, gnashing maws host dozens of wicked teeth below their slitted nostrils and bright gold eyes. Their frame and size is physically akin to a troll, though the two giants appear to share no observable lineage. Massive clawed hands commonly wield massive crude weapons, such as enormous bones or pillars. Reports circulate of ogres wielding two-handed smithed weapons, such as war hammers and maces, in one hand with ease.
===Combat===
Their giant size, brute strength and resilience to blows make ogres dangerous, but the pack mentality of the race is vastly more threatening. Though they do not appear to possess sophisticated military intuition, nor tactical cunning, they posses a sheer violence and strength in numbers. They do not appear particularly vulnerable to magical or holy energies, which again hints at an organic origin rather than a demonic one. Encounters should absolutely be avoided.

Andor left the settlements of the Explorer's Guild which he loved so much, and sought the salvation offered by the [[Holy Order of the Abbot]].

=== Title of subject ===
==== title of subject ===
respectively.

== "Category: Creatures" vs. "Category: Encounter Creatures" ==
Does there really need to be a difference?

== Organizations --> Government ==

Maelstroms are stretches of water made impassible by semi-permanent storms, tidal forces, whirlpools, jutting rocks, or other hazards. The lighthouses of Dargarth are enormous structures, built long ago by a forgotten people. The current peoples of Dargarth have since forgotten such techniques (if they were ever known), and are unable to build such monuments. They are a boon to trade, for they allow passage through nearby [[maelstrom]]s when manned.
