Characteristics
Sir Deri Grenoch, Knight of Hellatite has achieved altitudes of thought not seen before in Dargarth due to his ascension. He can understand all languages magical or otherwise, convince any character to speak the truth, and even crinkle those but the most resilient and sentient minds. He wields the fabled mace Void Malignant and a tower shield, but has also been reported summoning Magical Great Weapons in combat. The Knight of Hellatite can cast at will Word of Holding due to his omnipotent understanding of the limits of space and time.

Dargarthians~

I remember very little of the night my late Master Kendric disappeared, but I thought I should share my memories of the event I am calling The Arcane Disquieting:

I was notating Kendric's most recent discoveries concerning the Erzothian economy, he stopped strangely mid-sentence, his expression knotted, I'd never seen Master Kendric make such a face before. His entire being paused in time for just an instant, as though he somehow went somewhere far, but he remained here all the same.... "Up, at once!" He shouted at me as he began a series of complex sorceries, this was a spell-weaving which I had never fathomed. This couldn't have been the same Kendric whom had been droning on earlier of such a young economy. He had changed somehow, but nonetheless I stammered to my feet gracelessly - as I was back then, so so long ago - Kendric then again barked an order, his voice sounded odd, an echoing ripple to it somehow, "They will appear at any moment. You must defend as I finish my cast." I remember feeling such fear. I was unarmed, I only managed to fumble out a few syllables of a novice cast before the Rangers crashed through the ornate carved door of Kendric's study. I remember another ripple, and again things appeared to move all at once as well as not at all. I had absolutely no idea what was happening, I heard Kendric's castings finish - lightning ripped over my shoulder, vaporizing two of the Rangers, but even know they looked different to me. They did not cast off the scent of blood as Disciples of Malum would have, I had never seen Rangers like this - I am only calling them Rangers here because I that's the best translation the common tongue has for their true names, I've since discovered - they gave off an experience of timelessness, they felt as though they would go on forever. My palms began to warm as I realized Kendric had begun casting through me, I felt his thoughts, a razor cutting through what I thought I knew. The last roil in time I knew my body could handle, everything began sparkling with the colours of both Light and Void, Fel and Holy, Nature and Nether. The last thing I remember is a popping sound, like an imprint in the dark, a dim dull pop that I knew was my existence.

I've since learned that I knew nothing back then, and now I'm back.

The candle must be held above the head to maximize visibility and the area of effect. Undead may not approach the lit candle closer than 30 feet.

Witchbane Cragon was the Black King of The Damned, the Will of The Disciples of Malum, and an oathbroken ex-member of the Explorers Guild. He is of Gulzarian descent and foreign to the realm of Dargarth. His shades' attacks against mortals had been growing stronger and more frequent as more Relics of Malum have been turning up. Recent rumours had claimed that The Witchbane becomes invigorated at the sight of blood and can withstand blows that would cut down any mortal man. His malice and hatred was so vast his strikes have been rumoured to sap the strength or his foes and inflict a deadly disease upon his victims. He had proven himself to be a mighty foe to the living of the realm. He was slain before the Face of Malum by Earl Arminius.
Dargarth History
2 DY
Cragon arrived in Dargarth in the spring of 1 DY, as a consequence of his departure from his homeland, The Gulzarian Wastes, spending tumultuous months at sea. His voyage ended in the Bay of Langer in the midst of the Day of Two Sieges. Starved and confused, the nomad listlessly stumbled across the beach towards the rallying blasts of warhorns and the clanging of battle. By chance, he and shipmate Nox were hastily hired by the Knights of Solaris, thrust Solaris arms and holed up in the castle. Unsure of the intent nor merits of the foreign groups at war, the two did all they could to survive the onslaught of violent attackers. The efforts proved potent, and the attacking forces were driven off, leaving Cragon and Nox still under contract to the Knights. Having no property, coin, nor arms, the company embarked on a quest to destroy the Mask of Corruption in hopes of learning about this strange new land and its inhabitants as well as any sort of reward. None was to be paid to the recruits, and the Knights of Solaris's methods and ideals did not sit well with the two. Cragon and Nox moved onward to join more like-minded, strong-willed, and grounded adventurers.

Cragon began to do mercenary work for the Explorers Guild, adding what meager manpower and arms the nomad could to the Guild's adventuring parties. Growing steadily in knowledge and skill in battle with the Guild, Cragon and Nox were eventually inducted as official members of the Explorers Guild.

In the late summer, Cragon accompanied the realm's warband, answering the trumpets of The Chaos Wars. The party's numbers included:: Baron Bran, Sir Rasheab, Kestrel, Puck, Mowgli, and fellow guildmates Nox, Kendric and Ulfgore. The troupe returned to the realm battle-hardened by the wars and a newfound alliance had been forged between the Explorers and Legion. Upon their return, Cragon and Nox formed The Disciples of Malum to add their services to Arch Magus Kendric's efforts to root out despicable dark witches and warlocks in the realm.

Aside from offering the fruits of his battle studies to Dil and becoming his primary contributor to the scholar's work on the Codex of Myriad Beasts, Cragon's activity was minor and without note through the cold gray of winter.

3 DY
Joining along side Kendric Flamehands and his Accords of the Natural Law of Magic Cragon led the first Dargarthian Inquisition hunting the witches and other fel-users of the realm. The Nomad now championing the title of Witchbane was seen captaining the Explorers' ship at The Battle of the Wicked Delta. Again, the appearances of Cragon were spotty, his reports as a Battle Scholar for Dil had dwindled and the old man had summoned for Kendric to aid him in his search. Reports show that Witchbane Cragon was present during The Lay of Eliananna and Tanith Lorn though his motives indiscernible. It is rumored that Cragon is being compelled north by a mysterious influence, others say the weight of Malum's Blood Price has dwindled his humanity. It is only certain that the Witchbane is not well. He appeared last during Halloween 2k13 Adventure hunting the Witch of Middledale, claiming her/his soul and others who would oppose him, Cragon afterwards publicly held the Witch Trial of False Arachnia.

Word spread that Cragon had rebuked his vows to The Explorers Guild and began to cast a curse upon his former leader, Earl Arminus, before he was struck down by onlookers of the oath-breaking. Shades of Cragon had been sighted holding mysterious councils deep in the unexplored wilds, accompanied by hosts of undead. A new nation comprised of all manners of blight bringers now desecrates the realm of Dargarth, with Witchbane Cragon, championing his Goddess Malum, leading the way.

4 DY
No good news had come from the Witchbane, continuous methods had been attempted to contact the ranger, but they ended all in failure. It appears he had truly fallen to darkness. His shades were seen accompanying droves and droves of undead and unliving, all encountered attacking the living! The spouting of the The Army of Damned marching under one banner has filled the tavern of every corner of the realm. Even men whom haven't seen land in a year know of The Damned.

Cragon was seen assisting the Cult of the Blood Moon in an attempt to enlist a Demon to their ranks, their attempts were foiled by waves upon waves of Goblin. Once the Fist of Malum had been recovered by ???, Cragon led an army of undead against a resistance of mortals to reclaim his Blood Goddess's gift. His march was successful, despite the last minute arrival of The League of Chaos, his masses trampled the living earth and tireless mauraded and plundered until the Witchbane reclaimed the Fist. Malum had never been more content with her champion, she smiled upon him and imbued his Gorgtech bastard sword with life-stealing and disease inflicting abilities and his shield with maleficent unbreakable might.

Not long afterwards, a renowned Alchemist had claimed he knew Cragon's weakness and summoned the mortal realm to a secret entrance of Dryad's Rest. Heroes present were presented with the Alchemical Solution for the Undead Problem and fought essences to once and for all bury the Witchbane. Just as the Alchemist was mixing his Potion of Super Saiyan, Cragon came from the woods and slaughtered him, corrupting his soul with Bloodhex and utterly eliminated his apprentice, The Word of the Forest, causing a fel-blast unseen before. The Blood Goddess compelled him to drink the potion himself. His strength surged, his agility amplified, he had become the Chaos. He led those brave enough to face him to the Face of Malum, where he cut down hero after hero after hero. Witchbane Cragon's bloodlust had become unstoppable, until finally Arminius summoned the Essence of the Field to aid him, and slew the Witchbane Cragon. His corpse lay riddled with wounded and searing with fel and holy energies: Arminius took the title of Baneslayer and the Waxed Skull of Scary while Caoimhe took something else...

Caoimhe (KEE-va) is the name given to her as a young girl by her grandmother, who hoped to hide the girls' RagnFjord ancestry with a name meaning 'gentle'. She has no memory of her birth name. Her by-name is Ciara (KEE-ra), meaning dark, a pun on her name given by neighbors in Sanctuary. As no one alive knows what her birthname is, she has taken the surname Erlingsdottir, to pay homage to her RagnFjord ancestry.

Played by: Yhsla Jones

Biography
Caoimhe is the great-grand daughter of Bodvarr's great-grand uncle, the King who closed RagnFjord. Caoimhe greatly resembles her grandfather Erlingr (AIR-ling-er), the youngest son of Bodvarr's great-grand uncle. Erlingr escaped RagnFjord early in his fathers' reign to illegally go viking after mudering a man over debts. After kidnapping Damhnait (dev-NAWT), a Sanctuary woman, for a wife, he settled in the city of Bitter Peak, establishing a thieves ring. When Caoimhe was a young child the theives ring was removed by competitors, leaving only Caoimhe and Damhnait alive. The two escaped to Sanctuary, where Caoimhe infamously did not fit in, constantly questioning, exploring, and fighting.

10 years after returning to Sanctuary, Damhnait died, leaving Caoimhe free (and heartily encouraged by her neighbors) to leave and make her way in the world as she wished.
After pick-pocketing her way around Dargarth, she returned to Bitter Peak where she was recognized by her grandfather's competitors. While dealing with the mess of this
recognition, she learned who her grandfather was and where he had come from. Caoimhe was able to return to RagnFjord after Bodvarr became king.

Perhaps she will find a place among the cold rocks and broad axes of her ancestors. Though not in the Royal Family, blood kin though they are - too many rules, and too many potential assassins to worry about. Caoimhe would rather be the assassin than the target.

Appearance
Typically wearing grey or green, Caoimhe's wardrobe only makes a small nod to the orange required of her country. She has commented that 'Orange stands out in the shadows too much'.

Personality
A great lover of jokes, Caoimhe can come across as light-hearted and boisterous. While this behavior is somewhat genuine, it is also a cover for an observant and almost coldly pragmatic mind. If the death of one will save many, she will kill the one. And if the death of many will bring renown and riches (emphasis on the riches part), then by the Morrigan they will die.

Caoimhe only periodically takes to the field of battle, preferring instead to advance causes and remove obstacles with subtler means. Or poison. Poison can work too. When she does take to the field, it's typically with a sword and dagger, and an eye for looting corpses. Or killing a specific person, if the price is right.

Witchbane Cragon is the leader of The Damned, the Black King of The Disciples of Malum, and an oathbroken ex-member of the Explorers Guild . He is of Gulzarian descent and foreign to the realm of Dargarth. His shades have been reported accompanying monsters and undead of the realm, preying on the mortal, though he himself has not been seen for seasons.

Word spread that Cragon had rebuked his vows to The Explorers Guild and began to cast a curse upon his former leader, Earl Arminus, before his was struck down by onlookers of the oath breaking. Shades of Cragon have been sighted holding mysterious councils deep in the unexplored wilds, accompanied by hosts of undead. A new nation comprised of all manners of blight bringers now desecrates the realm of Dargarth, Witchbane Cragon, championing his Goddess Malum, leads the way.

It is compiled from the decrees of heralds in country capitals, proclamations, public missives, ship captains, and adventurer-nobles.</blockquote>

This page is dedicated to the cool, small events that happen during Dargarth, especially land actions. (Think of it as a historical chronicle-diary of the happenings of Dargarth.)

While an attempt has been made to record these in a narrative, herald like third-personal tone (the type of third person does occasionally change), these are meant to be objective, true facts about significant occurrences at events. (The boring little stuff is (normally) left out.) If you take issue with how something has been written up, let me (Rasheab) know, or edit it yourself.

P.S. First person accounts are awesome! (Perhaps especially if they aren't written from the POV of one of the PCs. These can be easily fit in, if you want to include a space appropriate one. Longer entries might warrant their own stories entry.)
The Day of Slavers <small>(2/24)</small>
On the 24th day of the second month, several bands of slavers were discovered in the unexplored lands of Dargarth. Both Legion and Sanctuary encountered them while surveying new lands. Sanctuary, contrary to its normal policy of negotiation, flew upon them with a murderous rage, slaughtering them out of hand.

Legion, aided by Marek the Rover (a cleric under the banner of the Explorers Guild), having little love for those that enslave others, also descended upon the band they encountered, but with a somewhat surreal tone of revelry and merriment to their actions. In a turn of fate, as the slavers were run to ground, one was mortally injured while another was locked in place by a spell. They were in turn bound and, after ensuring they would not bleed to death, were themselves made captive. Nothing is known of the fate of these prisoners, except that one was gifted to the Dwarven nation, and was taken into the underdark.

Negotiations at Albion <small>(3/10)</small>
On the 10th day of the third month, some minor events in the history of Dargarth occurred (fill in after the land map goes up: Damien getting his own hex, etc).

Of some note is the negotiations that occurred at the ruins of the former Albion capital. The mountainous territory formerly claimed by Albion has slowly been taken by the Explorers over the years, following the collapse of Albion. The remains of the capital itself has been faithfully guarded and ruled over by a quintet of templars, retainers of their ruler Garath. The Explorers on this day, accompanied by representatives of Legion and Alliance, sent a scouting expedition to parley with the templars.

War Comes to the Shores of Dargarth <small>(3/24)</small>
The drums of war sound as the armies of Dargarth are rallied within their homelands. Much hearsay and rumor spread: a blade was poisoned during the Noble's tourney, and was used to strike down Baron Bran of Moot. That Sir Froste of Mardur was seized by the Academy Arcana Bellum to stand charges for crimes; reports conflict whether it was for poisoning, or to account for crimes committed by his countrymen. The forces of Mardur attacked the arraignment, and a general melee ensued, where traditional alliances were thrown to the wind in the chaos. In the end rumors say that the Academy will march upon the Mardur plains, though no formal or public declaration has been made.* If it comes to be, it can only be speculated what their goal might be; will it to find and burn the College to the ground, or will they strike at the border fortifications?<br>
<br>
While the noble's tourneys of the spring were interrupted sporadically by the above events, eventually they were completed. Winners are reported as follows: Aleksii of Legion is the melee champion, while Vodin is the archery champion.<br>
<br>
In more mundane events of the half month: Legion continues its exploration, incorporating more of their traditional homeland formally under their control. Both Mardur and the Explorers built towns, while Sanctuary continues to secure their island, and the Briarwood Clan claims more swamplands in the far east.<br>
<br>
*since this report was first made, a formal declaration has been issued by Kendric, Archmagi of the Academy Arcana Bellum.<br>

The founding of a nation in the shadow of war <small>(4/7)</small>
Few events of note were reported this fortnight as nations reinforced infrastructure and worked on other internal projects. The exceptions were Legion and Sanctuary, which continued their explorations.

Legion suffered a setback when a scouting party discovered a powerful undead presence in the area surrounding the great pyramid. Despite being native to the region the desert is a dangerous and ever changing environment, and the scouting group was defeated.

Sanctuary continued the pacification of their island. Once again they discovered an infestation of undead, and with the help of some mercenaries crushed the group of zombies. Is there something about this island which draws the undead to its shores?

At sea, a Mardur ship passed close to an Explorers Guild ship in the night, and while hostilities did not break out it seems as if it's only a matter of time. A Legion caravel passed alongside a Bitterpeak caravel in the southern straits, and while taunts were hurled by both sides, nothing but stale bread was launched.

<center>* * * * * * * * * * * * *</center>

Unbeknownst at the time, in the quiet of events a new nation was founded! Traders report new territorial markers along the borders of the eastern and western trade roads. As the markers are reputed to be in gules and azure, this must be a sign that Baron Dameaion, formerly co-ruler of the Holy Order of Mardur and former disciple of the reclusive Order of the Abbot, has staked a new claim to lands. But what does this mean for the former Abbot lands?

Meanwhile it appears the silence was simple foreshadowing, as reports trickle in that the Explorers are training troops, while Mardur reinforced their fleet with a newly completed warship.

"We ain't got nothin" <small>(4/21)</small>
No chronicler or reliable witnesses (or even drunken tavern patrons) have stepped forward, so it must be presumed that there were no events of note, and overall was dreadfully boring.

Plague <small>(5/5)</small>
Two Nations Arise <small>(5/19)</small>
Two countries arise to join the ranks of the major nations of Dargarth.

In the south, Erzoth is founded amidst the rubble of Alliance and the Imperial Guard before them; while a long settled region, it also seems to be a curse to the groups that try to rule it. Will these castaways from a foreign land be able to break that curse?

In the north, amidst the eastern islands, territorial markers have been discovered at the edge of the Explorer's land surveys. While no contact has been made with this nation as of yet, given that its borders seem to be entirely above the snowline, curious minds wonder if they could have any connection to the frost giants further to the south?

In the far east, the Briarwood Clan returned with allies to destroy a pack of vicious ghouls that haunted an old keep. With the aid of the powerful holy magics of the Explorers Guild they permanently laid those accursed souls to rest.

Battle of the Wicked Delta <small>(6/2)</small>
A large fleet action occurred off the northern coast of the former Langer lands as Mardurian ships moved to intercept an Explorer caravel anchored off the coast. The battle is is becoming known as the Battle of the Wicked Delta. This dwarfed former naval actions as no less than three ships, one of which a war frigate, engaged in the battle. A recounting of the fierce events, one step removed, was penned by Count Andor, and can be found here.

Additional details: amidst the throng of darkly colored Mardurian outfits were several in the red & blue uniform of Dominion and many in the purple & yellow of Erzoth, aside from those in the purple & green of Moot. On their side of things, the Explorer caravel was mostly manned by their own countrymen, with members of the Academy, Tower, and Disciples among others.

Second Battle of the Wicked Delta <small>(6/16)</small>
Following in the theme of two weeks ago, battle once again erupted as armies of the Explorers and Mardur met in the swampy no-mans land bordering the Bay of Langer. This time the advantage went to Mardur as the groups were forced to engage along a narrow strip of dry land raised higher than the surrounding bogs.

Attempts to parley by the Explorers Guild failed miserably; while the battle was postponed for a few minutes, the results seemed foregone as Froste led the Mardurian heavy infantry forward into the Explorers and the RagnFjord representatives. As the infantry lines clashed a member of the Order of the Abbot accompanying the Explorers skirmished with Mardur's seemingly constant companions Erzoth on the flank before being struck down by Holy Order of Mardur forces.

RagnFjord had intended to have diplomatic meetings with the Explorers Guild on neutral ground, however the sudden attack by the Holy Order of Mardur ended talks. As recompense for the interruption, Bodvarr challenged Mardur to put forward a fierce opponent to meet him in single combat, to which Mardur agreed, using "Thorne" as their champion. The combat was fierce.Bodvarr drew first blood and disabled Thorne's leg, however a swift attack to Bodvarr's shield arm lost him his protection and victory soon went to Mardur. Both champions were taken from the field by their respective countries for medical attention, and RagnFjord and the Holy Order of Mardur left under peaceful conditions, leaving behind the bodies of the Explorers Guild army.

Admist the rest of the realm Sanctuary (Q: any allies?) completed the pacification of their island by eradicating the last band of slavers on the southeast coast, and rescuing the slaves they had in their possession. Meanwhile on the Isle of Langer the advance of the Mercenaries of Bitter Peak was halted as Mercenary members met former Men-at-Arms of the Knights of Solaris. (TBC)

Legion sailed an expeditionary force to the ancient fortress guarding the lighthouse overlooking the eastern maelstrom. When their hails were unmet, and with silence overlaying the keep, Stefan struck the gate down and he and Rasheab entered the walls.

Within, they found charred bones scattered across the courtyard and within the halls and meals left uneaten upon plates and in kitchens. However there was also evidence of hasty packing and the charred remains were not spread across the whole fortress, leaving hope that part of the population managed to escape.

In the aftermath, the powers of Dargarth have declared Endor to be no more, and await more information to be discovered about their fall.

On the mainland, after months of relative isolation, the forces of Dominion have finally left their holdings. Traversing the unoccupied mountains and swamps to the north with record speed, the party reached the coastlands of the Bay of Langer. There, in the swampy marshlands bordering the bay, Dominion discovered a band of brigands occupying an old keep. As the brigands sallied forth, Baron Dameaion organied battle lines: a large number of Legion mercenaries took the fore, to act as interdiction against the armored bandits, while Dominion took to their bows. In the end the plan worked near flawlessly; despite scattering and attempting to attack from all sides, Legion held the rogues at bay while Dominion swiftly cut them down. In the end the day was won with hardly a casualty.
First Day of Fall<br>
A number of mighty battles occurred upon the shores of Dargarth this fortnight.

In the far east, an exploration party led by Legion departed from the mountaintop lighthouse, crossing the bay to set foot on the Endorian mainland proper. However on the beach they were met by a pack of ghouls, considered by many to be amongst the most fearsome of opponents. The odds appeared bleak, but the party was able to regroup and rally with the other elements of the expedition, led by Count Arminius, and together the ghouls were able to narrowly be defeated. In the aftermath it was discovered the ghouls were clad in the vestiges of Endorian uniforms.

:<Placeholder for the Bitterpeak action, which I'll fill in later>

However all was not well everywhere. A large RagnFjord expedition met a force of dreaded Wights in the company of a Banshee. Despite a good battle plan involving armor, blessed weapons, and creating a giant amidst the undead ranks, it ended up being to little avail. The scream of the banshee incapacitated the giant and the warriors surrounding him, cutting a hole in the center of the RagnFjord formation. Meanwhile, the wights feinted in and out of the battle-line, sniping at the limbs of isolated combatants, felling them with the touch of their cursed blades. In the end though they fought mightily, the undead resilience carried the day. But the true horror didn't come till after. For while the heroes had been defeated, over half their number remained alive and conscious, crippled by the curse of the wight's blades. The last of the porters, fleeing the battle, report seeing the undead fall upon the still living heroes...
Or Grolls? Either way, the rumors have piqued your interest, and you soon find yourself on the road nearing the Town of Bounty's Bog...

Victory to the fallen countries of Dargarth <small>(11/3)</small>
A series of victories were won by the defunct countries of Dargarth this past half-month.

To begin with the mundane, Legion disembarked ship and led an army of adventurers into the wilds of the Langerhausen mainland, bordering Mardur and Abbot lands, and easily destroyed a vexation of zombies dressed in the rags of Langerhausen uniforms thanks to a wineskin of blessed liquid.

On other fronts, the living remnants of former countries stood strong. In the south a quartet of skirmishers, claiming to be low-born warriors of Alliance, opposed an expedition of Erzoth and Mardurian allies. After parley failed, battle ensued, with the fickle hand of fate somehow allowing the skirmishers to hold the field against the superior numbers of Erzoth and Mardur.

In the north, the Mercenaries of Bitter Peak again sallied forth against the Men-at-Arms holding the plains in the middle of the island. Despite the superior numbers of the Mercenaries and their hired fighters, they again were rebuked; the thick armor and shields of the Langerhausen men-at-arms could not be pierced, and for the second time the defunct Langerhausen forces held the field.

A Demesne of the Damned <small>(11/17)</small>
Dread rumors sweep the land this fortnight. It is said that a demesne of the dead has arisen in the east, and that dead heroes of the realm stalk among its hordes.

On the mainland, Erzoth, buttressed by heavily armored allies and mercenaries from Mardur, again sallied forth against the warriors to their south-east. Despite displaying the colors of Alliance, Erzoth claimed them to be little more than bandits, and set upon them in short order. However in the chaotic melee the lightly armored skirmishers were again able to rebuke those that trespassed against them, without taking casualty. When one of the warriors questioned Thorne, before he fell, as to why he led his country against those defending their sovereign territory, Thorne replied: "Because we're being paid good gold."

Legion led their band of adventurer-explorers northward, encountering another pack of zombies in the swamplands along the Bay of Langer, which they easily smote to dust, thanks to the copper tea kettle that Earl Arminius blessed prior to the battle. However the main reason this action is of note, is because, by all accounts, Witchbane Cragon led the pack of zombies. He paced and ranted, sputtering accusations at Arminius before attacking in a frothing rage. When struck in the leg by a blessed blade, Cragon collapsed, his likeness quickly melting from the corpse, leaving a badly decayed and anonymous body behind.

RagnFjord marched against unhallowed ground in the snowed and sooted tundras of their ancestors, they were halted in the wood by the discord of bones and blight. Again, the Witchbane's semblance was seen amongst undead terrors, a mob of skeletons clad in decrepit and hoary northern armors stood with him as he called to the Ragnfjord troop. A well-shot silvered arrow cut his bellows short as it sunk true and deep into his skeletal pelvis, negating the evil bonds that held the form erect, and the other bone-men were just as easily shattered by the heroes. However, upon further inspection, all skulls appeared relatively devoid of Cragon's appearance.
Witchbane Cragon is a static member of the Explorers Guild and The Champion of The Disciples of Malum. He is of Gulzarian descent and foreign to the realm of Dargarth. His sightings have been sporadic but he is seemingly going hollow and is up to no good.

3 DY
Joining along side Kendric Flamehands and his Accords of the Natural Laws of Magic Cragon led the first Dargarthian Inquisition hunting the witches and other fel-users of the realm. THe Witchbane has not been seen since.
Banshees are members of the Shade family, along with the Ghoul and the Wight.
Appearance
Banshees are a terrifying foe to encounter. Their piercing shrieks can destroy a sane mind, leaving victims as blubbering maniacs. They are wraith like forms, often cloaked in ragged garments. They have skeletal faces and bodies, sometimes with bits of flesh still hanging from their bodies. They float above the ground, but are still corporeal and can be physically interacted with. Their howls can be heard for miles, and are said to echo unnaturally. Those who hear a Banshee’s shriek in the distance are often chilled to the bone, and may have nightmares for many moons.
Behaviour
One of the least common Undead creature, Banshees are nonetheless one of the most dangerous. They don’t seem to possess any obvious intelligence, although they are often found in the company of other Undead. They particularly are associated with the life draining Wight, and the two make a terrifying duo. They do not seem to be favored by Liches or other Undead creating monsters, perhaps because their shrieks are hard to control. They sometimes lurk near small settlements or haunt dispersed population centers.
Combat
Banshees may be destroyed by purely physical means, but a Holy weapon is always more suitable for battling them. Their shrieks are the biggest threats a Banshee presents. The sound pierces through improvised earplugs, and there are not many magical counters. Some individuals of exceptional mental fortitude have proven capable of withstanding the Banshee’s wail. If possible, spread your forces to diminish the chances of being caught together in a shout. If the Banshee is accompanied by Wights, be very careful of their life-sapping blows.
Meta Details
Banshee:
*6 HP
*double damage from Holy sources
*4 Hallucination Spellballs (3' radius, 20 minute effect)

From the Scribblings of Count Andor

I was, at this point, making arrangements for my departure to new lands, but the realm of DarGarth was as exciting a place as ever. War had been brewing for some time in the First Realm. The two largest and most powerful countries were courting allies for an inevitable and singularly large war to settle small debts of honor that were accrued. This was a good thing for our realm, a chance for new recruits to be baptized in battle, a chance to bring out old banners and call in old favors. Unfortunately for me, I owed everyone on all sides favors, and could not be involved. Noblesse Oblige.

The Explorers Guild was more than an old ally, I co-founded it. And Mardur was my kith in equal part, and had served the realm in many, many ways. In short, I had no horse in this fight. I cautioned both sides against turning our first large conflict, and hoped that whoever was the unfortunate leader (we take turns, Hail Eris) of my country on that day could steer Moot out of the conflict.

The offer came in from Commander Sir Froste first, who contacted me personally, a politeness few human leaders follow these days. He asked if Moot would like to attack with Mardur and stand up to the bigoted oppressors of the Explorers. I regretted to inform him that, witch hunt on my brother Jebb notwithstanding, we needed to place our small light assault brigade with the lesser of the forces, if at all.

(Though… I was leaning towards siding with Mardur, because of the recent unpleasantness of the blatant fabrications of a kangaroo court which had singled out my brother, who reads a lot and never hurt anyone really and besides was quite new to the realm.)

Nox and Cragon, emissaries of the guild, informed me that Kendric’s bitter hunt of my brother Jebb for recent unpleasantries was called off. They asked for us to fight against Mardur with them, and I cautioned that Moot would only go where Discord led us, that we would fight for fun and for the side that needed swords most.

(Though… my brother’s persecution no longer an issue, we wished to remain apart from the upcoming unpleasantness, and focus on making even more friends among the folk of Dargarth)

On the day of the Battle of the Wicked Delta, I was indisposed. Had to prepare for my upcoming move, catch up on the ledgers, that kind of thing. I called in a favor from a Gnomad named Thingle to look after my brothers, and gave him a few resurrection potions. (I later found out he tipped one of them for some purple sweetwater because, he said, ‘it was very hot and the Dwarves’s sweetwater is just that delicious’. Kindly Thingle, more than the other gnomes from that side of my family even, is gentle and trusting to a fault, but that part has not happened yet)

On that day, both sides again approached Moot for aid. We said we’d just as soon go exploring with Bitter Peak. We ought to have. While Legion and Bitter Peak, the next largest powers of the realm, grow – in honor, stature, and numbers – the two countries work to strike each other down. Legion fought fully a PACK of Dragons that day. Moot, unfortunately, felled only old friends.

Both sides asked again, and by now, Moot had gathered enough information to realize that the array of ships was two against one, and at this point my cousin Thingle had already, so far as he thought, infiltrated Mardur to steal a ship. Tingle isn’t bright, but he is ambitious. Discord had arranged it – we would go to war with our allies, but we might leave it without them. I wish I could say my countrymen planned it out well, but the truth of it that I know well is that it just happened, and that it seemed like a good idea at the time. The Five-fingered hand of Eris moves us all in strange ways. And sometimes it hands you a boat.

The two Mardurian ships (their names were once known to me! good, sturdy ships that had seen battles, storms, and sea dragons before) drifted calmly toward the Guild caravel – the wind was as indisposed that day as I was. Baron Bran had insisted the Mootians be placed on the same vessel, the flagship Frigate. The rowers and gunners were all above decks with bows – and when the glow of Archemage Kendric’s eyes were clearly visible to the Mardurian archers, the well-timed attack began. The more powerful spellcasters hurled their lightning bolts, fireballs, and warps wood as hard as they could. The apprentices magically mended their ships, stammering, hands and voices timid. The archers slew many, and the seas cared not at all, because the seas do not form alliances.

The Guild ship was heavily beleaguered, naturally, by its two assailant vessels. At some point, I can’t say when, an arrow was loosed from one Mardurian ship that felled a hero on the second. Or so it is told. The two Mootians used the ensuing moment of chaos to execute the archer, along with, in the ensuing more-chaos, the rest of the ship. It was not long before most of the Mardurian crew was either dead or tossed to waves. I try to imagine how the Mardurians felt in that moment. They had committed no slight, no past infraction, no betrayal. Moot was, until that moment, only friends. Had they not paid enough? Were they not cheerfully neutral in all of this? Why? I don’t have answers. Already some Mootians tell me that Two v One is no good and a Three-for-all is better. It seems jingoistic and a bit tacked on. I think it is more like to say that fate dragged us into the combat, and Moot did the all-too-obvious thing that it had sworn to both sides it would do from the beginning, and still wound up being very surprised when that was what happened.

At any rate, the tipping point was sprung. General Froste, perhaps as angry as an Orc ever has been, dove into the water and sprang upon the pilfered ship. He fought bravely but was overcome. As the desperate battle raged on, Thingle (Eris keep him, knowing that as my agent he ought to behave by the laws of naval diplomacy) quickly formulated a plan: He would raise Sir Froste and offer a knight’s parole, the right of a gentleman to conduct his affairs at sea after a defeat. He could not drag the general Froste’s body by himself, gnome that he was, to the Mardurian boat. But he would drag the Orc-lord’s gear, negotiate with the other Mardurians, then swim back and use a potion to resurrect Froste and allow him back to his ship. Thingle, upon trying to board the remaining Mardurian caravel, uttering the words “I come to offer terms for the Parole of General Froste”, was cleft in two by an Orcish polearm. As I noted, he is trusting. And perhaps not all Orcs are aware of the finer points of conduct of naval engagement and Maritime Law.

Meanwhile, the ship-to-ship conflict raged. For every fireball tossed at Mardur’s ship, the Death Knight Thrax tossed a conscript’s shield to intercept and nullify it. Arrows loosed back and forth, and the odds dwindled. Though it was fought to the bitter end by tooth and nail, and only a handful remained alive, the Guild had taken as a prize the other Mardurian ship.

The day’s leader of Moot, Bran, did indeed steer Moot out of the conflict – on a new frigate, financed with bloody coin from two sides.
This page is dedicated to the cool, small events that happen during Dargarth, especially land actions. (Think of it as a historical chronicle-diary of the happenings of Dargarth.)

<br>
While the noble's tourneys of the spring were interrupted sporadically by the above events, eventually they were completed. Winners are reported as follows: Aleksii of Legion is the melee champion, while Vodin is the archery champion.<br>
<br>
In more mundane events of the half month: Legion continues its exploration, incorporating more of their traditional homeland formally under their control. Both Mardur and the Explorers built towns, while Sanctuary continues to secure their island, and the Briarwood Clan claims more swamplands in the far east.<br>
<br>
*since this report was first made, a formal declaration has been issued by Kendric, Archmagi of the Academy Arcana Bellum.<br>

The founding of a nation, in the shadow of war (4/7)

"We ain't got nothin" (4/21)
No chronicler or reliable witnesses (or even drunken tavern patrons) have stepped forward, so it must be presumed that there were no events of note, and overall was dreadfully boring.

Plague (5/5)
The Goat Pox

Two Nations Arise (5/19)

Battle of the Wicked Delta (6/2)

Witchbane Cragon is a member of the Explorers Guild and a founding member of The Disciples of Malum. He is of Gulzarian descent and foreign to the realm of Dargarth.

You guys showed up for the first time in April, when Legion and Bitterpeak attacked the Isles of Langer, right? If so, that was in 2 DY (unless I've really misplaced a year?).

The "years" were a bit mixed up at first; at first I thought that 2010 was 1 DY, but apparently the years are based off the real year (DY). So Dargarth was founded in 0 DY, most of us weren't around for 1 DY, and most of us showed up in 2 DY (last year).

Th's probably what it was, I remember thinking it was 2 DY, but then looking at the DY information I must have gotten as confused as you, thus my confusion. I shall remedy this, thanks mayne.
