Thorne is the king of Mardur. He inherited his title from Queen Pow Pow upon her retirement.

Not so many years ago, a grey-orcish marauder had his way with a saucy adventuring lass by the name of Rosa. Left alive after an orc tribe slaughtered her party, she later gave birth to a halfbreed spawn that would come to be known as Thorne. Few years after his birth, Rosa became deathly ill and withered away, leaving him to fend for himself on the unwelcoming streets of a peasant town in the human territories. With no trade skill, and nowhere to turn, Thorne stole himself a blade and sold his sword to anyone with a few coppers.

Playing a mercenary proved to be a rough lifestyle, leaving its own scars on the mind and body both. Above all, it brought a familiar relationship with danger and death accompanied with a lost sense of purpose. One night, as he was blowing his few hard earned coins in a local tavern, Thorne found himself being threatened by a huge, angry, belligerent man with two cronies at his back and a serious problem with monstrous mongrels. After taking a hard set of knuckles in the skull, he realized there was only way he’d come out of the situation alive. Reaching for the hilt of a rusted short sword at his belt, Thorne cut the man down right inside the tavern. Knowing the nobles and their laws would have small love for a half-beast, he fled the city in search of a safe place.

Finding open acceptance of his race and lifestyle in the monster territories of old Mardur, and a job as a soldier in the Mardurian Guard, Thorne settled in the capital city. Quickly enough, his prowess in combat and positive relations with Pow Pow the Goblin Queen attained him the positions of Captain of the Guard and Commanding Officer of the Queensguard, serving as both the leader of a monster elite squad and the first sword of the Queen herself.

Thorne's love of drinking is matched only by his own obsession with gold. He remains one of the richest heroes in Dargarth and is well known to engage in bribery, make lucrative deals, and give generous tips.

After a long search for a greater sense of purpose in life that dates back to his days as a mercenary, Thorne found his calling in joining the Warrior of Sunlight covenant. He offers his praise to the Lord of Sunlight, the Knight Solaire, and most importantly, the Sun.
[[File:Other mardur flag.jpg|350px|thumb|right|
Mardur's original country colors]]
Mardur was founded by Queen Pow Pow and General Froste in the early years of the First Kingdom.

Mardur's founding principles revolve around granting freedom and sanctuary to all monsters and their kin who are oppressed by humans. It is the sworn duty of every Mardurian ruler to shelter monsters from men who would do them harm, and provide a home and a life where they would not be judged or subjugated by racists.

Early History
Soon after Mardur's founding, Froste and Pow Pow took notice of a young Half-Orc mercenary ranger, and offered him a place to live and work outside of the Human Territories. (Modern day Explorer's Guild lands) Thorne gladly accepted their invitation and quickly became the Captain of the Mardurian Guard, a monster elite military unit. Along with Lieutenant Ballard, the duo also formed The Queensguard, sworn to protect the Queen from any and all aggressors both in battle and in court. Around the same few months, a roaming pirate captain stopped to resupply in Knox. Tyrent and the crewmen ofThe Silent were involved in a massive tavern brawl in the capital city which resulted in some minor deaths and massive property damage. Tyrent and his crew were brought to trial, and due to a convenience involving lack of resupply ports available to pirates and Mardur's lack of a proper navy, the pirates agreed to set up shop in Mardurian lands as citizens on the condition that they helped provide boats and serve as Mardur's new Navy.

Under the strategic command General Froste, the Mardurian Army, Guard, and Navy prospered in conquest. Mardur stood at the height of it's individual power after recruiting the roving Death Knight Thrax, who would become a major political, industrial, and military player in Mardur and the Holy Order of Mardur in years to come, as well as a central figure of the Dargarth Cold War. In 2 DY, Mardur merged nations with the Order of the Abbot to form the Holy Order of Mardur.

Mardur's Resurgence
Years after the formation of Dominion, the clergy who remained in the old Order of the Abbott lands grew restless of living under Mardur's rule, and wished to take their holy land back to re-merge with the new Order under their long-time leader, Baron Dameaion. This happened to be during the disappearance of the king, who had fallen comatose and deathly ill for many months. In Thorne's absence, all of his trusted advisers and military leaders had deserted Mardur. The nation lie in ruins, and the citizens were poor and starving. Clerics and wizards tending to the king 'round the clock, and when he finally roused, his directive was clear. Mardur would return to its status as the world power it once was.

National Character
Mardurians tend to be straight-forward and honorable in their dealings. As a culture they value martial prowess and have a fond appreciation for food. They dislike cowardice and trickery, but understand the usefulness of both retreat and poisons. Mardurians have no tolerance for prejudice, but can be vicious in their applications of justice. In general Mardurians are welcoming and kind to strangers, but will never forget a slight (though it is possible to earn forgiveness). Mardurians are a communal people and are quick to offer aid and assistance to those in need.

Foreign relations
At the battle of bloody bay, Mardur was betrayed by their Mootian mercenaries and since then Mardurians tend to view more mercenary nations, such as Bitter Peak with great caution.

Mardur has positive relations with The Highlander Clan, finding them to be fair and honorable people.

Mardur has declared war on Erzoth after Tristan and Lahire declined a trade in a dispute over The Kingsfairer.

Mardur views The Explorers Guild as a threat to all monstrous life on Dargarth and has been known to attack its members on sight.

Mardur finds Legion to be an honorless rabble of thieves, who are responsible for allowing a demon lord into the world of Dargarth. The two nations went to war in the summer ofDY 7 resulting in the Battle of Elkstone Keep and The Long Siege. A peace accord was struck between the two nations for one year and a day.

Thorne's love for lechery and murder and other befouling practices border upon excessive. His obsession with gold is unmatched by anyone in the realm. He remains one of the richest men in Dargarth to this day and is well known to give generous tips.

After a long search for a greater sense of purpose in life that dates back to his days as a mercenary, Thorne found his calling in joining the Warrior of Sunlight covenant. He now offers his praise to the Lord of Sunlight, the Knight Solaire, and most importantly, the Sun.

Mardur would return to its status as the world power it once was, and with the help of one devoted nationalist, Gurp Gorp, the monster nation's story begins anew.
The Holy Order of Mârdûr is the mighty result of a merger between the Nation of Mârdûr and the Order of the Abbot, which occurred on 8/12/2012 (2 DY)
About Mârdûr
The country of Mârdûr is dedicated to monsters and keeping them free, it was created by Froste and Pow Pow in late 2010. Monsters have always been given a bad rap, they want the same things as others races: food, shelter, freedom and prosperity. This realm is here for monsters to establish a place in society so they can be welcome as every race in DarGarth and eventually the entire world.

Sometimes in the late summer of 3 DY, Queen Pow Pow stepped aside to allow her bodyguard and general Thorne to take the reigns of leadership.

About The Abbot
The Holy Order of the Abbott: a brief history

The date of arrival of the Abbot is unknown; when his later disciples asked him when he had arrived the realm of DarGarth he only replies, “Just after the ship docked”.
The first appearance of the Abbot is disputed. Some claim that he appeared at the southern rim of the Maurdur lands and brokered a treaty with that realm for safe passage. Others claim he was seen approaching in a ship off the western shores off the lands claimed by the Briarwood Clan.

During the first recorded sighting of the Abbot he was seen speaking with the merchant named Coil . The reports conflict at this point as to what happened to the Coil – some say business competitors ran him off and some say he was looted and murdered by brigands.

During the same period of time the Abbot found one of the Lost Soldiers of the Order – A Narcinnian Knight that was defending his keep…

As the Abbot tells his disciples the Narcinnian Knights were an order of knights descended from a royal house across the western seas. Pirates were waylaying the Abbot’s ship and the Narcinnian Knights came to his aid. They went some time on the voyage together and the knights choose to flow the Abbot’s teachings and become his first disciples. While the Abbot had business elsewhere the Narcinnian Knights ventured forward to DarGarth and settled the lands to house the future order but remained silent of their true intentions until the Abbot could arrive.

Shortly after it is reported to have given his life in efforts to slay a demon that was raised – the Queen and War General from the country of Mârdûr were present and reported that he was valiant to the end. The whereabouts of the other Narcinnian Knights and the demon are unknown.
The next sighting of the Abbot was during the conflict over a dragon’s egg where he spoke with a mage by the name of Da’Har. (Who later came to an untimely end at the hands of others who would take he egg for their own devices) While the egg was of no concern to the Abbot he did note a certain division in the countries of DarGarth in both philosophy and doctrine. He chose to take action and form his order rather than wait for the return of the Narcinnian Knights.
The Abbot began searching out those who would find his cause worthy and serve the Order. Some arrived after wandering for some time in search for answers. Some left their countries in the goal of becoming a member of the Order.

But they were all clear about the Abbot’s doctrine;

To find and reunite the Narcinnian Knights back into the Order

To establish a Holy Order here in the realm of DarGarth

To establish discipline within the Order through militant exercise

To convert those of false faiths and misguided beliefs

To bring all under his banner who would cleanse the lands of evil and force repentance for the good of the souls and the good of all DarGarth

It is reported that in the fourth month of the year 3 DY, most of the former Order of the Abbot departed from the country. It has since been confirmed that they founded Dominion.

But they were all clear about the Abbot’s doctrine;

Thorne is the king of The Holy Order of Mardur. He inherited his title from Queen Pow Pow an co-rules alongside Emperor Froste.

Thorne is a member of The Holy Order of Mardur.

Playing a mercenary proved to be a rough lifestyle, leaving it's own scars on the mind and body both. Most notably familiar a relationship with danger and death accompanied with a lost sense of purpose.

Quickly enough, his prowess in combat and positive relations with Pow Powthe Goblin Queen attained him his current positions as Captain of the Guard and Commanding Officer of the Queensguard, serving as both the leader of a monster elite squad and the first sword of the Queen herself.

Thorne's love for lechery and murder and other befouling practices border upon excessive. His obsession with gold is unmatched by anyone in the realm. He remains one of the richest men in Dargarth to this day and is well known to give generous tips.

After a long search for a greater sense of purpose in life that dates back to his days as a mercenary, Thorne found his calling after joining the Warrior of Sunlight covenant. He now offers his praise to the god Helios, the Knight Solaire, and most importantly, the Sun.
