Dargarth talk:Community portal

Do you know why I can't enter "Category:Locations" into the search bar, and come up with this page? [1]
It's a pain because I have to use quasy "external" (aka single bracket [ ] links) links on the community portal page, instead of "internal" link (the double bracket [[ ]] links).
On the Bel wiki we have pages like this: http://www.geddon.org/Category:Realms
On the Dargarth wiki there are pages like this: http://www.dargarth.org/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Locations
But I can't seem to search them in the search bar, and they are difficult to internally link.
- I just tested it, and searching "category:locations" takes me directly to that page. Double bracket links work correctly throughout the site, its only external links that require single brackets. Which links are you having trouble with? As for the url strucure, it's something to change in settings.php I think, I'll poke Andor about it. On another note, you can sign your name with four tildes. - I just realized you may be asking why the format of the category pages is different, rather than the URL structure. They've added a bunch of content to that category page, and are treating it somewhat like an article. As a result all their normal category page information is at the bottom of the article. We could make our category pages like that too, it just requires someone to go through and write them.Arminius (talk) 18:31, 20 November 2012 (PST)
- Ugh, dumb me. Ignore some of the previous responses. I forgot that wikicode is terrible sometimes. Categories and Images have to be linked like this: [[:Category:Example]]. Note the colon after the double brackets. That's because the format for making links, adding categories, and inserting images is all the same. The wiki needs a way to tell when you just want to link to an image or category and not add them to the article, so the colon is used at the start. Arminius (talk) 18:41, 20 November 2012 (PST)
