Independent holding of Sir Byron.

Located at the edge of former Alliance lands, out at the end of the peninsula named after the aforementioned country, the region has traditionally been at least several days travel from even a small sized town.

As a consequence when the mysterious apocalypse struck the Alliance down, Sir Byron's family holdings were far from the center of the destruction, allowing them (it was later discovered) to mostly weather the results. Unfortunately they were not completely spared, because as civilization crumbled, monsters began to again roam the peninsula; their lord being trapped on a ship in the east, not knowing what had befallen his lands or his country.

Upon his return and the discovery that most of Alliance's lands had been usurped, he gathered what was left of his assets (inheritance and his share of the trip to the east) and after several months managed to hire the Mercenaries of Bitter Peak to help retake his home.

While their landing was uncontested, between the beach and his family estates the party came upon a crude log fortifications. Bugbears issued forth and could not be bought off; luckily Sir Byron and the mercenaries were able to narrowly defeat the great brutes.

The estate was found abandoned, overgrown, but mostly intact. The nearby palisades were reinforced and expanded, and a tunnel within explained the source of the bugbears and the reason for their reticence to negotiation: veins of gold. However the gold is coupled with a path into the deep darkness; the tunnel was sealed, but a watch is kept (and an ear open) for the sounds of tunneling.
