Basics

Hermits seek wilderness solitude for a number of reasons. They may be in search of a mystical experience, have been pushed out of their community, or simply enjoy the solitude of nature. They can be unpredictable, and it is unwise to make any assumptions about them. They generally live a simple life, and only rarely interact with other people. Occasionally, a powerful mage may pose as a hermit. They often appear unwashed, in dirty clothes, and generally not making much sense.

Behaviour

It is important not to confuse druids and hermits. While both often live solitary lives in nature, the hermit has no magical bond to the lands they inhabit. Hermits prefer to be left alone, and in the off chance a party encounters them they are not apt to be very happy about it.

Combat

While hermits rarely have armour or serious weapons, it is good to be on guard when around them. They may not always have respect for travellers, who they often consider trespassers. Additionally, many hermits can be described as somewhat mad. Maintain your calm around them, and hopefully they will as well.
